Scan 2 – details later

Hello there!

Today was my second PET scan post chemo.  Looking forward to the same outcome as the previous scan – all clear.  Will need to wait (details later) until Friday, when I go back to the oncologist for my follow up.

Things are progressing well.  2 complete weeks back to work at 50% and feeling OK.  I do get a bit fatigued by the end of the week, but this is to be expected.  I need to get my motivation back into the energy department.  A little push here and there will not hurt.

The treatment went like gangbusters.  Now, going back to reality is not going as quick.  Again, I realize the “T” word – time, is the key.  I want it all, and I want it NOW!..  🙂

After the PET scan I took a walk up to visit the family back in the Conklin Building.  Good old floor 2 in the Helen and Harry Grey Cancer Center.  A couple of my girls were not there, but many were.  It was nice to see them on a social level.  Everyone, including myself, were amazed that it has been since last October that I was in there for my final chemo treatment.  Really nice to see everyone again.  You get used to seeing these people just about on a daily basis for months, then nothing.  Leaves a little bit of a hole for a person.  It is a small hole that is easily filled by living life to it’s fullest and remembering how and why you are able to.  Thanks to all my friends back at the cancer center.  You will always be remembered, even if I don’t get to stop by that often.

Many days have passed since my last chemo treatment.  Sometimes I think back to how much time has passed and remember everyone told me “you will be over this before you know it”.  Doesn’t seem to feel that way on day one, two or even day twelve,  since it’s been a few months and now it seems almost like a distant memory.

skylar - zebra birthdayThere are many happy moments and then there is life as it happens.  Yesterday, was a happy moment.  We were able to celebrate the 4th (1st) birthday for Skylar – our “leap year” grand child.  A few times during the day, I took a pause and looked around.  There was a lot of noise, and a very hectic household.  Many would say a crazy day.  This was a day I would not trade for anything.  The joy, love, and happiness were overly abundant.  A day that can not be easily replaced.  Even with all the craziness happening, there was a tranquil peace throughout the day.

There will be more to come.  I need to follow up with the doc on Friday, and, God willing, will be scheduling the removal of my port-o-cath.  This will be a terriffic milestone!  I cannot wait, more to look forward to.

Peace,
-Dennis
