Surgery scheduled
WooHoo! One step closer to normalcy, or at least the new reality! 🙂
I had an appointment with the radiology department to discuss having my port removed. They wanted an office visit to “go over the procedure and blood tests” which equates to another $40 co-pay.
The appointment was relatively quick and painless. All they did was explain the procedure and take vitals. Blood pressure was 103 / 56 which is on the lower end, but still good. Temperature 96, again low but ok. My body temps have been averaging 95 – 96 ever since I started chemo. Oxygen level was 97. Blood counts all within normal. Everything they needed to confirm so I could schedule the port removal.
Surgery is set for the 28th, which is the same day as Dakota getting ACL surgery on her left rear paw. I guess we will heal together again. 🙂 This will get me to an April return to full time schedule. (uh, yeah??) The poor pup has been having troubles with legs because of arthritis, and on top of it, tears an ACL. She has been limping for way too long. So we need to get the surgery done so she can be better by summer.
Work is going well, but trying to keep the hours down is a chore in itself. Too much to do, and a lack of people. Hopefully tomorrow will bring a decision on a few more contractors as we are doing second interviews with 4 more applicants. A new guy is starting Monday, will be getting him up to speed and working in no time.
Hasn’t the weather been just awesome? With the nice weather we have been having, there is much to look forward to. Many things need to be done outside. I missed quite a bit of last summer [year] so I am definitely looking to be busy. Have a list of updates to the yard I would like to get done. Will need to schedule them out as time and money allow.
Had a great weekend last weekend. My cousin and his family came over and spent the afternoon on Sunday. Was nice to visit, catch up and eat! Haven’t been mentioning eating that much.. need to get going. Had some really good – fresh – venison. Was a nice treat. Cooked on the grill, so the season has officially started.
Started up the walking again. Monday will begin the diet as well. I need to shed the pounds I gained since being sick. There is no reason I cannot get back down to where I was before, and even lower.
Looking forward to a challenging and fun summer!
Peace and Love,
-Dennis

I forgot about the port and the word “surgery” made me pause. I took a deep breath and read on. Good for you. You mentioned food and in the next sentence dieting…… need I say more?
Hey Bud,
Looks like you’ve been busy all around! Glad to hear things are getting back to as normal as they can be!
Miss ya bunches,

Dennis, I couldn’t be happier for you. Spring is all about new beginnings and I hope that yours leads to happily ever after at least for today! God Bless you and your family and your poor dog, I know how he feels! Take Care and Happy Easter!
Hey Dennis,
Thanks for the update. It’s good to see things are almost back to normal (the new normal, huh?). As always, you and Tammy are in our prayers (let’s throw Dakota in too!).

Ok… you just made my heart stop. I knew Dakota was limping, but didn’t know she was going to need surgery. But you on the other hand,,, what’s up with scaring me with the word “surgery”. I was happy to read the progress that you have made. I never had a doubt that you’d beat this thing, and you obviously are doing quite well. Glad to hear the good news. I’ll mark my calendar for the 28th!
Love, Penny
