It’s not the method

It’s not the method, but the message.

Hello again,

There are many cool things in the works.  Busy as always and ready for more.

I have been taking some time to read more and study for my “next big thing”.  Seems as though I am really trying to get it perfect.  Along the way I suddenly realized something.  Perfect doesn’t exist.  In the attempt for perfection, I fall under the trap of procrastination.  Slowly I am changing, very slowly.

Instead of getting it perfect, I am trying to get it done, to the best of my ability, with the tools I already have.

One of the items is using video.  I keep looking at video cameras and finding issues.  Not right, too much $$, too big, too small ad nausium (sp?).   When in reality, I carry one around with me every day, right on my cell phone.  Of course this is not the tool of choice to video diary my life, or to capture those special moments for family and vacation. It is a still decent tool that can be leveraged as I expand my ability to capture, edit and publish video.

One of the people I have been following lately, Jeffrey Gitomer, does this very thing.  At first I, along with may others, was critical of the “quality” of the videos he posts on youtube.  I kept watching them as the content was valuable and I was learning.  After looking at all the videos, I purchased one of his books – “Social Boom”  (currently about 75% complete).  In the book he references what to do, and start doing it.  “Where is your flip phone” is a common question.  Here is a man, with a HUGE following and [I am sure] a complete production crew at this disposal, yet he publishes his videos with basic equipment?

>>>>Now it hits me – light bulb moment!<<<<

It is not “how” [with what] he has captured the message and communicated it, it is that he actually does it.  It is not the fact that it is in 1080p or has fancy info graphics, etc.  Just good content, posted regularly.

WOW!

Last night I did similar.  I captured a quick video [for a client] of people dancing and having fun, and posted it.  Simple, no editing, nothing.

Yeah, it’s not cinema quality.  That’s OK – pobody’s nerfect.

This is the start of many more to come.  Many ideas, not just videos, are waiting and waiting for that perfect moment.  “How’s that working Sparky?” – time to get the messages delivered.  We can make them perfect later

More to come,
-Dennis

Get it done…..we laugh but he is correct. All I need is to see the dance and be able to recognize people. So you succeeded.
