MRI done this evening
Today was the head / brain MRI. Appointment was for 5:00 and the MRI scheduled for 5:30.
I received a call on Saturday where the caller ID said “Hartford Hospital”. My heart jumped as I thought it was them getting back to me with bad news. Why else would they be calling me? Well, the feeling didn’t last, as they were just confirming my MRI for Monday, today.
Had a bunch of stuff to catch up on so the time passed pretty quickly. Before I knew it, it was time to head on over to the hospital. The admitting process went smoothly, and I was in the MRI waiting room in no time.
Overall, getting an MRI is easy on the patients part. You just need to lie there motionless, for about an hour. 🙂 There is a LOT of noise, and they moved me back and forth trying to get a picture of my brain. A lot of brain power, so they need to be thorough.
After the first half, they pulled me out an injected dye into my veins. This is a contrast agent to help “see” where there could be issues. Trying to remember from my earlier research, I believe the contrast agent will attach itself to “bad” cells, ie: the cancer or tumors. This is where the MRI will show any issues. Results available to my oncologist within 24 – 48 hours. My next appointment with him will be on the 27th. I am sure if there is something going on he will call before then.
I truly believe there is nothing major going on. It feels more and more like pressure headaches, which, most likely are sinus related.
On another note, I have contacted DAN with the information about my health history. I am looking for a third-party confirmation of what my oncologist and ENT have stated with regards to my return to SCUBA. I filled out their form on their site and can expect a response within a day or two.
Stay tuned for more,
