Ports out, now what?

Hello there!Easter eggs

It’s been a while since my last update.  Lots happening, all good.

Mom and Lisa are headed this way soon!  Will be arriving on the 15th, can’t wait to see them.  I was going to head up there in January, but the stars did not align properly and the timing did not work out.  Nice that they will be making the trek down here.  If anyone wants to say “HI”, let me know.  A surprise guest will be accompanying them down as well.  Should make for a wild time.

Work is going well.  There are many things to do, and too few people.  Luckily we are hiring so this will help to alleviate some of the workload.  Possible travel coming up as well for a conference [or two].  Hey, who doesn’t want to head to Florida ..  in June??  (more on that in another post).

Oh yeah, the port…  The operation went well.  Didn’t take but a total of 2 hours from the time I checked in to the time I was walking out of the building.

Had the procedure done at the Jefferson Radiology building in Farmington.  They have a few small rooms (recliners, no beds) and an operating room.  Might have been another operating room or two down the hall but I never made it that far.

Laid down on the table, which is an X-Ray assisted operating table (interventional).  They took a quick picture of the area, which is the upper right side of my chest.  The worse part of the whole ordeal was the local anesthetic.  The doctor hit me four times around the area and it burned like heck.  I felt a bunch of tapping / pushing and the next thing the doc said “it’s out”.  I replied with “wow, that was quick”.  I really don’t think I was out at all, but there may be a difference of opinion on that.  😉

I waited around in the little room for about 40 minutes or so.  Once the assistant / nurses thought I was OK, they released me.

Everyone has been so supportive through the whole experience.  Especially with getting my port out, all people kept saying was how great an occasion this was.  Another step forward.

I have had the conversation with a few people that it has been one hell of a year.  But, stop and think about it…  A year still hasn’t even past..?  So it’s been one hell of a ride in such a short period of time.

… a there is still a LOT of riding to do!

Peace and Love,
-Dennis

P.S.  My diet is working…  it has been 3 weeks ..  and I have lost 21 days!
