Weight loss update November 7th

Hello there,

Another quick update.  Seems there is always too much to do, and too little time to do it.

Today was my second weigh in with MedTeam Weight Loss. I was concerned as it was in the evening (weigh more) and the other times were in the morning. This didn’t seem to phase Tom, he just said “get up there and let’s see what it says”. It = scale, more on that in a bit.

The numbers didn’t look great until Tom explained a bit more

  • You will weigh up to 4 pounds more in the evening, so my weight will be less tomorrow am. (I was actually only 2 lbs less on my scale this am.)
  • The scale he uses, a Tanita TBF-310 is not just a scale but a body composition analyzer
  • Assured me not to get too caught up in it.

If we break down all the information the scale gives us: sex, age, height, weight, BMI, BMR, impedence, fat %, fat mass, tbw, and desirable ranges for fat % and fat mass. When we take a look at the overall picture, I had lost 8.5 lbs of “Fat Mass” and gained 6 lbs of muscle.  Of course I did not gain that much muscle in one week, he explained this was extra water. He stated I still need to drink more water – and I thought I was drinking enough.

As the scale numbers might not have been the best, using a high tech tool to really determine what is happening made it better. Here is a picture of the scale, and a link to their website. The scales are about 3K, so I am not thinking this will be on anyone’s shopping list too soon.Tanita TBF-310

Seeing little progress week to week can be a bit of a downer. I needed to step back a few days ago and look at the bigger picture

  • I am trying to lose ~83 pounds
  • I have already lost 25 pounds (this is over 25% of my goal)
  • I am just shy of hitting 1/3 of my goal

Big picture perspective I am doing OK!

Another milestone happened this past week. I am able to wear my pants that are size 38, and have retired the extra pair I had to buy, size 42, for vacation! Hoping these are retired for good.

I was in a class today for work that dealt with changing behaviors. How timely is that? This provided additional information and tools I can use to help with my transformation. The only person I can change is myself.

Peace and Love,
-Dennis

Ahhh… The Universe works in marvelous ways to give you all you desire. I love those synchronicities! It is all heard in the silence of our mind! Keep up the good work….keep those thoughts and spoken words positive…..it is done unto you as you believe…..keep believing in yourself!

Congrats on taking action. Taking action is the first step toward being successful in anything. I am still waiting for enough motivation to take my first step in losing weight again. Honestly, I cannot even call it a goal yet. Exciting that you already got to retire a pair of pants. Keep it up.
