Weekly Update – February 10th

Another week in the books. Fighting cold / infections still keeping on track.

It was a tough week. Started good, quickly went down hill. Didn’t even have a sled to enjoy it.

Monday – in check, Tuesday had tests and a late start to the day.  Also had a vendor take a bunch of us from work to dinner, so the day ended late too. – no working out. Wednesday was a snow day, and pretty much stayed in. Thursday, Friday, and through the weekend – fighting a sinus infection and what the doctor called “rattling in my lung”. Probably the start to bronchitis?

I took the time to catch up on rest and focus on eating well. Pretty much stayed on track even with the lack of energy and desire. Was a battle – we won this time. On the way to winning the war!

The weekly check in with Med Team showed a loss of a pound and a half. Not great, still progressing in the right direction.

Today I was able to get back in the gym.  A good workout and really great to be back in the swing of things.

It is amazing how difficult it is to incorporate new behaviors (working out) and how easy it is to let it slip. As I said previously, this is a tough spot – and I need to stay focused and overcome my previous history of breaking stride.

I signed up for a couple of “challenges” through a website I used to research nutrition and working out. The first one is a 28 day challenge (4 weeks) to kick start good behaviors and start people on new habits. Tomorrow will end the 4 week challenge. Having a bad week last week will set my progress back a bit, but I will still complete the challenge and finish the documents and updates.

The next challenge is a 98 day challenge. This started on the same day as the 28 day challenge, and will continue for a few more weeks (a little under 10 left).  This one I am keeping in my sights.  There is an opportunity for me to do well. I am keeping going to hit my end goal of 175 and this will help to keep me on track.

I needed to take before pictures so I will have a set of photos to go along with my journals. I kind of wished I had taken the before pics back in October when I originally started my journey.  Never the less, I will have plenty of reminders from when I started.

My current progress:

  • Total loss – 47 pounds
  • Left to lose – 36 pounds

As always, when I look at the day to day numbers, they move slowly. Works a little better when I keep my eyes on the overall progress.

There are also a few more goals to be done this summer.  As soon as I get more details and put the goals into plans I will share more.

Peace,
-Dennis

Slow & steady seems to last while quick & easy does not. You’re doing fine, stay tough. Maybe taking the approach that this is a simple life-style change instead of a weight loss crusade might make it less daunting. Peace.
