Always more to do – keep safety in mind
Hello there!
Daylight saving time ends tomorrow at 2:00 am. Time to set the clocks back. We are reminded to set the clocks back and change the batteries in the smoke detecros as well. A very helpful maintenance tip. As always, there is more to do. Let’s keep safety in mind!
Here are a few other reminders for things we can be doing around the house.
Ok, ok – will mention the smoke detectors. Make sure you change the batteries and test all your smoke detectors. Also, don’t forget the carbon monoxide detecors as well. If you don’t have one, now is a good time to get one.
Safety items
Fall is upon us and the days are shorter, that means limited daylight hours. This is a great time to add a few solar lights around the property to help with coming in and leaving your house. Quck and easy way to add a little light on doorways and sidewalks. You can even get the motion activated ones as well.
First aid kits
We all have them – RIGHT? In the car, maybe a few bandages in your purse, in the bathroom. Now is a perfect time to do a quick inventory of your first aid kits. If things are old, buy some fresh stuff – bandages, tape, all the goodies. Remember to have a few pairs of medical gloves and other safety barriers.
How do you know what you should keep? Here is a link to the Red Cross’ Anatomy of a First Aid Kit.
Fire extinguishers
I have a whole bunch of these around the house, maybe you do too. We all need to know that they are in good care and ready to use. Take a look at the gauge, is it “in the green”? How old is it? You may want to buy a newer one just in case.
Make sure they are of the right type. If you need some information here is a handy reference for you. Do you know how to use it?
Visually inspect the fire extinguisher to make sure there is no corrosion or damaged parts.
Flashlights
Now is a good time to make sure you have a few flashlights around the house. Check them out and make sure they all work. Open up the cases and make sure the batteries are not leaking or corroded. By checking in advance, when you need a flashlight it will be ready. You really don’t want to be stumbling around in the dark looking for extra batteries do ya?
That’s about it for now… Just a quick list of things to do around the house while you are changing the clocks back. 🙂
This is just a quick list to remind you of other things to think about as you go around the house and change your clocks.
Oh ya, if you show up late to an event please do not use the “I forgot to change my clocks” as an excuse… that only works in the spring!
As always – Truly Blessed,
-Dennis
Good idea about the medical gloves, Dennis. They are inexpensive and can be purchased at most drug stores and/or large grocery stores. They come in handy for other things around the house, too, like light cleaning in the bathroom.
Thank you Dennis for watching out for us. Lots of good dancing last night.
Hey Jan,
Yes, the medical gloves work great for balloons and chickens with the grandkids too!
Thanks for stopping by.

Hello Ginny!
Thank you (as always) for supporting us. It is great to see you as well.
