Goal setting – we achieve what we measure
When working on and towards a goal we will not always be successful all the time. There will be some bumps along the way.
The important part is that we are tracking what we are doing and can use that data against our results. This will help to determine our next steps.
In the SMARTER goals post there is a key section – the second “R” – Reevaluate. AKA – review!
For instance: The past week I kept within my calorie goals. I completed all my workouts. I did everything I believe I should have doneā¦ yet I did not lose any weight. (this is a bad term – lose weight – will explain more).
So what did I do? – went back to my diary (My Fitness Pal) and reviewed what I ate. More importantly what the macros (protein, carbohydrate, fat) were for the week. I was higher than my targets on carbs and lower on protein and fats. Hmm.. Maybe on to something.
Although some of the data is on point, there is a bit more to the story.
What am I doing about it?
This week I refined my macro goals and I am looking to keep a better balance throughout the day. Even after doing this for just a few days I have already seen some movement on the scale.
My goal is getting closer by looking at reviewing, and refining the data.
