Campaign to be GREAT!

Let’s make America Great!

This will get a lot of people’s emotions flowing right out of the gate. I am NOT talking about voting for one political candidate or another. This has nothing to do with politics and everything to do with action. I am talking about what YOU can do to help.

It’s really very simple…. VOTE – with your wallet.

Support your local business

We all see it. Every year. “Shop small Saturday”. Help support your local business. blah blah blah..  I am a little different in this regard.

DO THIS EVERY TIME YOU NEED TO MAKE A PURCHASE!!

Follow some simple steps the next time you need to buy something.

Is the service / product available from:

  1. Friend – local or internet – support your friends! Support the people that support you!!
  2. Local merchant – support your community.
  3. Regional merchant
  4. Big box store – locally staffed – keep jobs close to home
  5. Online conglomerate

Do you see the pattern here? I hope so. Not once did I say shop for price. The value I receive from purchasing locally exceeds any savings in cost. Period! Many times, the price is even equal to or better – imagine that!!

We get too caught up in saving pennies, we end up costing ourselves in the end. “Local business generates 70% more local economic activity than big box retail.” – Huffington Post

buying local - impact on local economy

A quick little story

A friend needed to book a flight. He used a well known “travel site” to book the airline. The process was confusing (he doesn’t fly regularly) and the experience was less than desirable, putting it mildly.

He spent at least 90 minutes trying to figure out the system and get the flights booked. What did he save? Who knows as he was only given the prices that specific site gave him. He choose the “best” flights for his scenario.

When he arrived at the airport, the connecting flights [both directions] did not match up to the originating flights. He would NEVER have made the connecting flights. He spent an additional 30 minutes working with the counter to “fix” “HIS” mistake. Since he had to change tickets he was charged an additional fee. I believe this was close to another $200 out of his pocket.

This process took him 2 hours of his time and he lost an additional $200 of his money doing it himself. This was for common flights that are a commodity and sell for the same price on many different online portals.

Wasted time, wasted money, frustrating experience. Has this ever happened to you? Naw, didn’t think so… 😉

Moral of the story – Support your local travel agent!

Adding a little more…

Help promote local businesses!

Do you have friends in business? Carry some of their business cards and help pass them around.

Looking at my desk I have 3 other businesses that I have a pile of cards for. Why? These are great people and I want to see them succeed! In my drawer I have many others as well.

I look for ways to help promote the lives and businesses of others. This is just something I do. I know a lot of people that do excellent work, what is the best way I can compliment them? Give referrals!

There you have it!

My take on making America great again! No politician is going to rescue you, sorry. We need to do this ourselves.

Stay tuned for more on this…  We are just getting started on our path to GREATNESS!

Peace and Love,
-Dennis

Dennis practices what he preaches and is a great business associate. I know he uses some of my services and offers his own services within our group for us to use too.

Helping others be successful with a purchase is a simple gesture to let someone know that you are are thinking of them, their well-being, and the success of their business.

PS. – Nice little, added, plug for Tammy there… (go Tammy go!)!

    Good ideas Dennis.
I tried a hairdresser last year in my town and liked her. So I took some of her cards, then recommended her to my friend.
She liked her, saved money and didn’t have to drive so far to her old place. She in turn told 2 of her friends who now use her. Everybody was happy!
    Happy New Year! 🎊🎆🎈
