First Race – 2 goals good, 2 fail

Failed to hit a few targets, that is fine. I still accomplished quite a bit and learned something along the way. Cool!

FAIL = First Attempt In Learning

I had 4 goals going into Saturday’s race:
1. Have fun
2. Stay healthy and safe
3. Sub 2:30 (PR)
4. Stretch goal… 2:14:55

I only made 2 of the 4. I really wanted to hit the sub 2:30 – not this time.

I had minimal time in training up to this race, still I hit all the workouts. With the latest “issue” I had gained weight. I was 11 pounds heavier than I was at this race last year. Still, I wanted to push for the better time… it was just not meant to be.

We don’t FAIL if we learn.

What can we do? Review the data, make some changes, come back stronger and smarter next time. I truly believe that there is no real failure if you are learning. Get out there, try stuff, learn, live. Only way to be.

If you never start you will never succeed. I heard this somewhere:

I have failed many more times than I have succeeded. The successes are far more profitable than the losses I suffer from failure. Overall, the wins more than make up for all of the losses.

Or something like that…

I have taken some notes, written up a report and given to my coach. Will take the time to review what went well, and where we can improve, then put those lessons towards “next time” – REV3 Quassy 70.3 on June 4th.

Come on out and have some fun! Who knows, we just might learn something….
